Mmmmmm Pretzels.

I love pretzels.
Everyone loves a pretzel! Especially at my house. I usually end up making a double batch, one savoury and one sweet.
Makes 12
Ingredients:
2/3 cup warm milk
7g sachet of dried yeast
1/2 tsp caster sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
60g butter, melted

  1. Using a fork, whisk the milk, yeast and sugar together in a jug. Set aside in a warm place for ten min until bubbly and frothy.
  2. Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Make a well in centre. Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until it forms a dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently into a ball. Place into a lightly oiled bowl, cover and set aside in a warm place for about 30 mins or has doubled in size.
  3. Preheat oven to 220' Celsius and line two trays with baking paper.
  4. Knock down dough with you fist. Turn onto a floured surface and mold into a ball. Divide dough into 12 even portions.
  5. Roll each piece into a 40 cm long sausage shape. Arrange the "sausage" into a horse shoe shape with ends towards you. Cross ends twice and place on the loop of the dough.
  6. Put onto tray and brush with either milk or beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, sea salt, Parmesan cheese, etc for savoury or Cinnamon and sugar for sweet.
  7. Bake for 10-15 mins until golden brown.

And Enjoy.
