Everyone loves a pretzel! Especially at my house. I usually end up making a double batch, one savoury and one sweet.
Makes 12
Ingredients:
2/3 cup warm milk
7g sachet of dried yeast
1/2 tsp caster sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
60g butter, melted

Ingredients:
2/3 cup warm milk
7g sachet of dried yeast
1/2 tsp caster sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
60g butter, melted
- Using a fork, whisk the milk, yeast and sugar together in a jug. Set aside in a warm place for ten min until bubbly and frothy.
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Make a well in centre. Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until it forms a dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently into a ball. Place into a lightly oiled bowl, cover and set aside in a warm place for about 30 mins or has doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 220' Celsius and line two trays with baking paper.
- Knock down dough with you fist. Turn onto a floured surface and mold into a ball. Divide dough into 12 even portions.
- Roll each piece into a 40 cm long sausage shape. Arrange the "sausage" into a horse shoe shape with ends towards you. Cross ends twice and place on the loop of the dough.
- Put onto tray and brush with either milk or beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, sea salt, Parmesan cheese, etc for savoury or Cinnamon and sugar for sweet.
- Bake for 10-15 mins until golden brown.
And Enjoy.
What a great recipe, I will have to try it.
